Movie date

Kate and I had a "mommy and me" date on Sunday. We had lunch at Old MacDonald's-as Kate likes to call it and then went to see Toy Story 3. Kate is obsessed with Toy Story. Her favorite character is Jessie. When we ask Kate what she wants to be for Halloween she says "JesSAY". Its so funny to hear her say Jessie because she says it with a British accent. She also says, that Brody will be Buzz Lightyear, Justin will be Mr. Potato Head and I will be Little Bo Peep.
Kate loves playing house and acting like she is the mother. Her imagination has grown so much over the last couple of months and it is so much fun to watch. Its so hard to believe she will be 4 in a couple of months.

Brody's 1st words

Brody said his first word and it was "dada"(7/22). I was a little heart broken he didn't say mama first but its okay, I know he loves me more-haha. Brody is a little over 8 1/2 months and is everywhere and into everything. I cant turn around for a second as he can make it from the kitchen to the office by the time I turn back around. I'm really going to be in trouble when he starts walking.

Babble

Brody is babbling like crazy. It is so funny to hear him "talk". Justin and I are both trying to get him to say "mama" and "dada". I have a feeling he is going to say "dada" first.
Justin flew in yesterday after being away for 5 weeks and it is so nice to have him back. I'm so happy to have our WHOLE family back together again.

Curly vs. Straight

Whenever I describe Kate, I always start with- she has long loose curls. She has the prettiest/craziest curly hair. One morning my curiosity got the best of me and I decided to straighten her hair. I put the straightener on the lowest setting and it took me less than 5 minutes to do. The result, WOW!! Her hair was so long and soft.
Justin couldn't believe I would straighten her hair. He kept saying "She's not even 4 yet, you cant straighten her hair". Believe me, this is not a daily, weekly or even a monthly thing I plan on doing. She looked so much older and didn't look like my baby girl anymore.
Kate loves playing the alphabet and spelling game. The alphabet game is where I say the letter and she has to tell me a word that begins with the letter. She can tell me several different words for each letter and I always try to get her to tell me new words. Lately, she has been wanting to know how to spell everything. Kate will pick a word and then I will spell it with her repeating me. Hopefully all the practicing will pay off.

8 months

Brody is eight months old today, which is so hard for me to believe. In four short months he will be 1!!! I am constantly trying to get him to say "mama", he mimics my mouth but doesnt say the word. I just have this feeling that when Justin flies back next week, Brody will see him and say "dada". Brody is a great sleeper. He sleeps from 6:30 pm to 6:30 am with two naps during the day.

Not much happening

The last two weeks seem to have flown by, with us not doing very much. Brody is now pulling himself up every chance he gets. Whenever I try and put him down he immediately locks his legs so that he wont be sitting. I eventually end up having to lay him on his back.
Kate has 2 more weeks of swim lessons left and we are thinking about enrolling her in the next level instead of waiting until next summer.
I have been busy trying to get the house organized and decluttered so that we can put it on the market at the beginning of August. Justin flies back on the 18th and we can not wait to see him.
