Parties Galore!!

We had three parties over the weekend. Kate and Brody's school had their annual Boo Ball Friday night, which the kids dressed up, played games, saw a magician and did Halloween activities. Then on Saturday, we had Kate and Brody's 5th and 2nd birthday party. Since their birthdays are 3 weeks apart, I decided to combine them to make it easier on friends and family who don't live close by. It turned out great and both Kate and Brody had a blast playing with friends, opening presents and eating cake. Kate had a princess cake of course and Brody's was Captain America. Saturday night we had our neighbor block party with lots of yummy food, tons of kids wearing their costumes, a bouncy castle and games. We were all wiped out by the end of the night.

Kate's FIVE!!

My baby girl is now a big girl. I think I am still in shock that she is actually five. The morning of her birthday, I snuck in her room and put her present on her dresser. I proceeded to sing "Happy Birthday" to her to wake her up. She immediately asked for her present and birthday card so I moved out of the way and showed her birthday gift, a pet fish. She was so excited! She named it "fishy", very original if I do say. HA. She also got books, a dress up outfit, cards and money from other relatives. I decided to have a "mommy and me" date on Friday so that we could have a special day together. It started off with coffee and chocolate milk from Starbucks, then I took her to get her finger and toe nails painted followed by lunch at McDonald's, ears pierced, ice cream and a trip to Target to spend some of her birthday money.
I had wanted to wait until Kate was older enough to have her ears pierced so that she would remember how special the day was. I had asked her if she wanted to do it and she said yes. I didn't tell her anything about it was done because I didn't want to scare her. So, we went to Claire's and I let her pick out the earrings she wanted and the lady sanitized and marked the spot for the earrings. Lets just say, Kate was not happy after the first ear was done. She was crying and saying how bad it hurt. I calmed her down enough for the lady to do the second ear and she started crying all over again. She probably cried for less than a couple of minutes before she calmed down and informed me that "it really hurt". Later on that evening, I asked if her ears still hurt and she got this sad look on her face and said "no, but they really hurt earlier". She is too funny.
I am so glad I decided to have this special day with Kate because next year she will be in Kindergarten and I won't be able to have moments like these as often as I would like. We are so lucky to have a caring, funny, loving, well rounded daughter who makes us so very proud of her everyday.
Happy 5th birthday Kate, we love you so very very much!!

23 Months

One more month and my baby will be two!! Brody is putting words together to make sentences, can count to 10, loves singing songs and as of lately has been throwing some major fits. Most of the time we try to ignore them but sometimes he gets a pop on the butt and has to sit in time out. Sharing is not in his vocabulary, he wants everything and throws a fit if Kate doesn't give it to him. He is now on the outs with strawberries, pears, and grapes and only wants bananas as his fruit choice. Justin taught him to say "money" every time he makes a basket which is pretty cute. Some other cute phrases he says are "daddy's home" and "I love you".
