Brody's 1st dentist appt.

Brody had his first dentist appointment today and he did great. He did exactly what the dentist told him to do. His bottom two molars have already come in and his top two are halfway in. The dentist said his teeth look good, she didn't see any plaque or decay. So glad he had a good experience and hopefully he continues to "like" going to the dentist.

Reading

I have Kate practice her sight words pretty frequently and I continuously add to the stack. She knows probably around 65 of them which I think is pretty good seeing as she isn't even in Kindergarten yet. I decided to pull out the BOB books to see how she would do. She did great! She read the first 9 books by herself. After she finished the 9th book, she said she was tired and needed a break-ha. I hope she loves reading as much as I do.

Big boy underwear

I put Brody in big boy underwear on Saturday to see how he would do and he only had 2 accidents. Not bad. I set the timer for every 20 minutes to go potty. Sometimes he wanted to go and other times not so much. Everytime he went he would get 2 miniature marshmallows. There were times when I had to give him the marshmallows first just to get him in the bathroom. For some reason he doesn't like going potty first thing in the morning, so I may have to bring him marshmallows then as well.
Tuesday-Brody hasn't been in underwear since Saturday. Sunday we went to church and didn't want to risk him peeing all over himself, after church we had lunch and then it was nap time. I could have put him in them after nap but I was being lazy even though I continued to take him every 20 minutes. Monday, he went to school, so he didn't wear any. Tuesday, during my workout at the gym, they called me to the child center and I figured he had pooped, when I went to check him, he didn't have a diaper on. The lady told me he had gone to the bathroom and came out without his diaper on. Im glad to see he is taking to potty training even without wearing underwear.

Disney on Ice

I surprised Kate with tickets to Disney on Ice today. This was her first live show and she loved it. She sat on my lap the entire show, singing along to the music. It was an extra special day seeing as I let her get a chocolate donut and chocolate milk at Starbucks this morning. I also bought her a Rapunzel doll at the show which was totally overpriced and for lunch she picked McDonald's. I love having mommy-daughter day dates together!

Urgent Care

Yesterday, I had to take Brody to Urgent Care for an ear infection. He woke up early from his nap crying and pulling on his ear. I gave him some Tylenol and called his pediatrician but couldn't get him an appointment until the following day. After awhile he seemed better so we went to get Kate and headed to swim lessons. Brody skipped his lesson while Kate swam, the entire time he was crying and in so much pain. I ended up taking Kate out early so that we could go Urgent Care. The doctor looked in his ear and said his ear drum was very red and he had fluid in it causing swelling and putting pressure on two spots causing the pain. He prescribed ear drops and antibiotics. I put him down to bed around 7:15 and he woke up again around 9:30 whining, so I gave him some Tylenol and put some more ear drops in his ear. He woke up this morning feeling a lot better and not pulling on his ear. Hopefully, he is on the mend.

Easter

We drove down to my dad's house on Friday to spend time with him, the kids love going to Grandpa's. They got to fish and Justin took them on a very slow 4-wheeler ride. They also love that Grandpa lights fireworks every time we visit. Brody kept saying "one more time, okay?" Justin and my dad boiled shrimp, potatoes, corn and crawfish, which was so good. We stayed until after Brody's nap before heading back home on Saturday. On Sunday, I got up very early to make dough for homemade rolls, the kids opened their Easter presents and then we headed to church. After church, the kids decorated Easter cookies and I got everything ready for our Easter lunch with our neighbors. We had Ham, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, rolls and apple pie and it was delicious. After lunch the kids had an egg hunt in the backyard followed by a much needed nap. After nap, we headed over to our neighbors house to swim in their pool which was a great way to end the Easter weekend.

Gymnastics, swimming and piano

Along with swimming, Kate is also taking tumbling and piano lessons. Monday, she has tumbling, Tuesday is swimming and Wednesday is piano. She is a very busy girl which means I am a very busy taxi driver. This is her second week in tumbling and she loves it. She is the smallest in the class but doesn't let it stop her from trying everything. My heart melts every time I see her with the big girls. She walked right into her first class, she wasn't scared or shy. She said her teacher kept calling her "Katie" after her first class, so I told her to correct him. Well, at yesterdays class she walked up to him and said "My name is Kate not Katie". I just laughed.
Swimming is going good. We went to our neighbors house who has a pool and she jumped right in when Justin wasn't expecting it. He said she swam the entire time and when she would get tired she would float on her back. Brody, has moved up in his swim class which should make pool time a lot more fun this summer.
Kate started piano last week and really enjoyed it, I hope she ends up loving it because I think the piano is a beautiful instrument. Now, all we need to do is buy a piano for her to practice on.
