Prom and the Pool

Tara, our babysitter/Justin's boss's daughter had their school prom Saturday night. The theme was James Bond-Casino Royal, they needed volunteers to be card dealers, so Justin and Rick volunteered. We have known Tara since she was 11 or 12 and now she is a junior in High School-makes us feel old. Its hard to believe we only have one more year with her before she goes off to college. Dont think we can ever find anyone as good as Tara to babysit Kate.

The weather is FINALLY nice enough to get in the water. Kate and her BFF Sophie, played most of the weekend together, as they usually do. They were playing with water when they decided to jump into a kiddie pool with all their clothes on.
Sunday, we decided to blow up Kate's very small pool, so that she could splash around.

Another great weekend

The weather was perfect again this weekend, so Kate spent most of it outside. Justin pretty much had her all day Saturday, as I had a horrible headache and just wanted to lay on the couch and do nothing. On Sunday, we let daddy sleep in and headed outside-dressed as a fairy princess. Kate loves to play dress up and will wear her wings and dress all day if we let her. Sophie, saw Kate dressed up so she went inside to put on her outfit as well. They played most of the day in their outfits.

Getting Kate to try different foods is like pulling teeth. She totally refuses to try anything new. She pretty much eats the same things over and over again. Chicken, mashed potatoes, macaroni, rice, pizza, fries are just a few things she will eat. She refuses to eat fruits and vegetables. The only time she will eat fruits and vegetables is when I hide them when making chicken pot pie or banana carrot muffins.
She use to be a good eater and I'm hoping its just a phase she is going through.

She wears short shorts!!

FINALLY, after 7 months of wearing jeans, long sleeves, jackets, hats and mittens, Kate was able to wear shorts. We are all excited about the weather getting warmer. There's only so much cold weather we can take.

The neighbors across the street have 2 little girls, that Kate loves to play with. Sophie, who is 2 and in Kate's class at school and her sister Femke who is 5. They are from Holland and Kate is already learning words in Dutch. Kate will ask the girls if they want to jump on her trampolina(trampoline in Dutch).

Kate and Sophie

We get several questions about what kind of house we live in and the neighborhood. So here are a few pictures of our house and street we live on.

I am now 14 weeks pregnant and still not feeling that great. From about 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., I feel good. But around 5ish is when the nausea returns and stays until bedtime. My sense of smell, is outrageous. I can smell things that im certain dogs cant even smell. With my new heightened sense of smell comes alot of gagging. I am constantly gagging at cologne, decodrant, toothpaste and foods are a few of my weaknesses. Im hoping it all passes within the next couple of weeks.
Justin and I go back and forth on whether I am having a boy or girl. We watched my ultrasound(13 weeks) dvd and I swear there is a penis on that kid. I know girls gentials grow out first and then go in, but I am certain it is a boy. Justin thinks girl all the way because Kate's ultrasound looked just like that. But, I remind him the ultrasound of Kate was when she was 11 weeks-way too soon to tell. Hopefully, in the next 3 weeks we will know.
If, your wondering how I am able to get so many ultrasounds, it's because they are so cheap here. All I have to pay is $30 and I can get one anytime. Which I love and gives me peace of mind.

School Picture

Kate took her very 1st school picture last week and thought I would share it with everyone. We practiced smiling the night before and the morning of picture day. Needless to say she forgot how to smile. I have a distinct feeling she is going to either steal my straightener or want her own in about 10 years.

God, love her cheeks and crazy curly hair!!

Kate and the new baby

I decided to jump on the baby blog bandwagon, so that our family and friends can stay updated on Kate and the new baby.

I am 12w 2d pregnant and my due date is Nov. 6th. The pregnancy has been rough, luckily we were in the states for my 1st appt. so I was able to get nausea medicine. While pregnant with Kate, I was sick all day every day for the first 20 weeks. I'm praying it wont be as long this time with the new baby. The foods that seem to help a little are the sour ones-pickles, chips and sour candy.

When we ask Kate if she wants a baby sister or baby brother, her response is pretty funny. She says "a baby sister, baby brother is yucky." If she knew better she would say a baby brother, so that she can remain queen bee.

Kate is now 2 1/2 years and it is so hard to believe how the last couple of years have flown by. She goes to school from 9-12:30, 3 days a week and loves it. At school, they have free time, story time, snack, arts and crafts, gym, recess and lunch-whats not to love!! Her class contains 30 kids from several countries around the world. Kate is very cultured, not only at school but home as well. Tanya, our maid/nanny has been teaching Kate Russian and has gotten pretty good at knowing what she says.
