Apple Pie

Kate and her class have been studying apples the whole month of September. They drew apple trees, tasted several different types and charted their results. Their final project was to make an apple pie that they then got to eat in class. The teacher said Kate ate mostly the crust, which didn't surprise me as she will not eat fruit. Mrs. Nikki(teacher) gave all the kids some apple pie to take home, after hearing Kate didn't eat that much of it, I got excited knowing I was going to have it all to myself(sad I know). As soon as we got home, Kate wanted to eat the pie, so I opened it up and gave her a spoon. Needless to say between me and her, there wasn't any left. She didn't think twice about the apples in it. Maybe there is hope to get her to eat fruit.

Dr. Appt

I had a Dr.'s appt today and everything looked good. Brody's heartbeat was 136 and I am measuring at 33 weeks. I also received a flu shot, which didn't hurt but left my arm a little sore. We are still scheduled for the induction on Nov. 9th. I go back again in 2 weeks and then weekly after that. I am hoping these next 7 weeks go by fast!!
Kate is doing good. She LOVES going to school, everyday on our way to school she says "I love school". Not sure she will be saying those words in 10 years. I'm glad she has her own little social life outside of me, even though it does make me sad that she is getting so big. She will be 3 next month and I cant believe how fast the years have gone by. I actually get a little teary eyed when I think about it. I still remember the day we brought her home from the hospital like it was yesterday. Okay, I better stop b/c I'm starting to tear up.

Bath Conversation

Here is a conversation I had with Kate during her bath.

Me: 5 more minutes, then its time to get out.
Kate: Okay, 5 more minutes. Wait! 10 more minutes.
Me: (laughing) No, 5 more minutes.
Kate: Okay, 5 more minutes and then 10 minutes.

She is already learning Justin's negotiating skills. God, help us all!!

Dr Appt.

Went to the Dr today for my 2 week check-up. Everything looked good. Brody weighs around 3 lbs 2oz and is right on target for how far along I am. The ultrasound tech had a hard time getting a clear profile picture b/c Brody didn't want to move, he stayed in the same spot the whole time. We did get several pictures of his "manhood" as he didn't mind showing that off. Justin would be so proud!!
I had 3 main questions for my Dr today. Do I need to get a flu shot? What do you think about cord blood banking? Will she induce me early? She said yes, I need to get the flu shot. She was neutral on cord blood banking, only b/c it is expensive but then on the other hand, saving the blood is like having an insurance policy in case something does happen. I am leaning towards it, as we didn't save Kate's and if something was to happen we would have Brody's. The last question was inducing me and she said she would induce after 39 weeks. So, November 9th is the day unless he decides to come early. I have several reasons for wanting to get induced early. First, so that Justin can fly in in time for the delivery(he missed Kate's). 2nd, I would like Brody to have his 2 month shots before we go back to Baku and last we can give grandparents enough time to take off work and come help a couple days with Kate.

Hello, Goodbye

Kate started school on Monday at Interfaith in The Woodlands. Justin and I both walked her to her classroom the 1st day. I was a little nervous b/c I thought she would cry when we left, but to my surprise she was totally fine with it. The whole day, I kept looking at my watch to see what time it was and then I would look at her class schedule to see what they were doing. When we went to pick her up, I was very excited to see that she was in the same clothes as I put her in that morning. She went the whole day without an accident. She has been potty trained for awhile now, but I was nervous she might have an accident, being in a new environment and having someone new take her to the potty. The teacher gives us daily reports on how they behave, if they ate their snacks and lunch, what times they went to the bathroom, activities they do and how long they nap for. The very 1st thing I looked at was if she took a nap, and she didn't. Kate is use to taking naps from 1:30/2-3:30/4 and at school they are suppose to nap from 12-2. I knew right away, she wouldn't be taking naps at school. Tuesday and Wednesday were a little different. Both days Kate woke up and said "I don't wanna go to school" so, I reminded her how much fun she had on Monday and she could play outside with the other kids. Didn't matter, when I walked her to her classroom, she was crying and telling me not to go. I felt soooo bad leaving her, but Justin reminded she would probably stop crying after 5 minutes or so. Sure enough, the teacher said she stopped crying not long after I left. I was also surprised to see, she had taken a nap for 1 1/2 hours. Thursday and Friday, she was excited to go to school and didn't shed any tears and also slept during nap time. We decided to put Kate in school because I only have 2 months left in the pregnancy, and have so much to do before the baby is born, not to mention I am constantly tired. Also, we didn't want Kate to sit in front of the tv all day as I lay on the couch. She needs to have interaction with other kids her age where she can learn and play, especially so when the baby is born.

Another big milestone this week was getting off the pacifier. I know, what some of you are thinking "She is almost 3 and still on the pacifier". I know, I know!! And my only excuse is because we fly so much and the flights are very long is the only reason, I didn't take it away from her sooner. We figured since she takes naps at school without one(i purposely didn't pack one)that she can start sleeping without it. So, Tuesday night when we put her down to sleep and she asked for it, we told her she didn't need it any longer b/c she is a big girl. She asked "where did paci go to live" and I told her paci went back to his family(the only thing I could think of). She started to whine a little and Justin told me to leave-he knows I'm a sucka. Justin stayed and talked to her for a little bit and then left. She cried/whined for a little bit and then stopped. She woke up briefly in the middle of the night and whined and then went right back to sleep. The next morning we were amazed how easy it was. I think we both thought it was going to be hell. She has been off it for 4 nights now and doing great. She does ask every once in awhile where paci is and I tell her, he is with his family.
We sadly said goodbye to daddy today. Justin had to fly back to Baku and wont be back until right before the baby is born(Nov). It was a sad trip to the airport, lots of tears from me which I know doesn't make it easier on him. I guess its back to the web cam for the next couple of months.

Daddy, daddy, daddy...

Justin flew in last Friday after not seeing seeing Kate and I for 2 months!!! That's right 2 months. He was a little worried that Kate wouldn't want anything to do with him, because she hadn't seen him in so long. Boy, was he wrong. The minute she saw him, she didn't want to leave his side. She kept saying "I want to go with daddy, not you momma" over and over again and even told me to get out of the car(while it was moving). Justin loved every minute of it. We decided to show Justin what it is we do during the week, so we went to the Children's museum at the mall. He got to play and see everything Kate usually tells him about. Sad to say, we only have one more week with daddy before he has to go back. He wont be back again until right before Brody is born-another 2 months. Thank god for web cam's!!!

To get Kate out of the house and away from the t.v., we go to The Woodlands Children's Museum. I bought a membership($50 for 1 year)last month and have been using it like crazy. We have gone 3 times this week alone and Kate absolutely loves playing there. There are so many things for kids to do-digging for dinosaur bones, painting, puzzles, reading, playing with trains, playing dress up, etc. We do it all and could easily spend several hours in there.
