School Carnival

Kate and Brody's school put on a small Spring carnival for the kids and they both had a blast. They had a petting zoo, pony rides, bouncy castle, face painting, crafts, a clown and a magic show. Kate wasn't to sure about the clown who was making balloon animals. She hid behind my back the entire time and wouldn't talk to her, Brody on the other hand didn't have a problem with her. Kate loved the pony ride and Brody wanted nothing to do with it at first but eventually got on. The weather was absolutely beautiful and perfect for the carnival.

Anniversary

Justin and I celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary on March 12th. We decided to take a little trip and go to Vegas. We spent three days eating, drinking, gambling, shopping(ok, I was shopping), seeing shows and having a great time. It was nice to spend time together, just the two of us. For Justin's gift, I got him flying lessons, something that I really didn't want to get him but something he has always wanted to do. Hopefully, he hates it :)

1/2 Marathon

I ran my second 1/2 marathon this past Saturday in The Woodlands. The course was great, flat with no hills. My only goal was to be under 2 hours and I accomplished it by running it in 1:58. My exact words every time I finish are "That was stupid, I'm not doing that again". Only to say a couple hours later "I wonder if I can be faster next time", which makes me start thinking how I can improve my time. I give all the credit to my neighbor who ran with me, without him, I doubt I would have made it under two hours. Justin and the kids came to cheer me on, Kate was upset because she didn't see me when I ran past her. I wanted to get a family picture but Brody wasn't having it and Kate wouldn't take a good picture.

Sunday routine

We started a Sunday routine of going to church and then having brunch. We've gone to The Walnut Cafe a couple of times and Kate loves it, mostly because I let her have chocolate milk. Both kids are enjoying going to church, Kate loves learning and playing with all the girls in her class. I love the family time that we are able to have.

Monkey see, monkey do

That is pretty much how we describe Brody these days. Whatever Kate does, Brody tries it. On the days when I don't wash Kate's hair I will put them in my shower and put a shower cap on Kate. Now, every time Kate has it on Brody wants to wear one as well. He also has favorite people at certain times. He will go through phases where he says, "No, sister do it" or "No, daddy do it". If I don't listen and get/do it myself he has a meltdown. Literally, starts crying and then falls to the floor. Most of the time I ignore it but there have been a few times where he gets spanked and is put in time out. It seems every few months he gets the terrible two's and just throws fits for no reason. Hopefully, they disappear very soon.
He is doing great at singing songs and the ABC's, counting and is doing great in swim lessons. I love when he says "family hug" and when you ask him what his name is he says "I Brody".

Valentine's Day Party

Kate and Brody had a Valentine's Day party at school and for two weeks was all that she talked about. She was so excited to hand out her cards. Brody was excited to get Lighting McQueen cards and carried them around all day saying "Look, Lighting McQueen". Kate came home with very few candies which made me happy.

Brody wouldn't take the picture unless he could wear Kate's hat.

Potty

We introduced Brody to the potty about a month ago, before bath we would sit him on the toilet and within seconds he would say "all done". When actually he hadn't even peed. We continued every night and most nights he never did anything. We never put too much into it knowing he is only a little over 2 and would eventually learn. At school, his teacher puts in on the potty before every diaper change to get him more familiar with it and he will go sometimes. In the last couple of days he has gone several times and after he finishes he says "I did it, I go pee pee in potty", it is so cute. We are going to continue to take the laid back approach with him as he is still pretty young and there isn't any rush. Now, if by summer he isn't potty trained then we are going to get serious.
