Deer Lease

Justin and some friends have a deer lease outside of Sealy and the kids love going. They think it is the best place ever. They get to stay up late, ride the 4-wheeler, get dirty and Justin even lets them shoot the gun. What 3 and 6 year old wouldn't love going? Another plus is he takes them on the weekends while I stay home and get a ton of stuff done.

100th day

Kate celebrated the 100th day of school today.  Each grade had a project they had to do and Kinder's was to decorate a shirt with a 100 items on it. We worked on the shirt a little each night and Kate picked everything she wanted on it. If we have to do another project similar to this one, I will definitely make sure I put cardboard inside the shirt. There were several spots that stuck together and I had to tear them apart. After school, Kate and I went to Starbucks for a Mommy and Me date.

Piano recital

Kate had her first piano recital on Saturday and she did fantastic. There were 42 kids in total that had solos. We got there early so I had Kate practice her song. Halfway through it she stopped and said she couldn't remember the rest. I called her teacher over and she helped Kate remember it. Mrs. Kim(teacher) had all the students sit to the side and wait for their turn. I was nervous for Kate and hoped she wouldn't forget her piece. When it was her turn, she took a bow and sat down and played her piece great. She didn't forget or mess up. We were so proud her!! We had promised her TCBY after the recital, and she didn't let us forget it. I can't wait for her next recital.

Race weekend

My neighbor and I ran in the ABB 5k on Saturday. The weather was muggy and humid but nothing too bad. We decided to jog the race since we were both running our big races on Sunday. My whole reason for running the 5k was to get the triple medal on Sunday after our second race.

I ran in the Houston 1/2 marathon on Sunday and it was cold, rainy and miserable. My knee had been hurting pretty bad leading up to race so I was a little nervous about it. I was also nervous about the weather. It was cold and rainy-two factors that I don't like to run in. To make it worse, I forgot my running watch at home, so the whole race, I didn't know my pace or time. It rained the first 3 miles, at mile 4.5 I warmed up and took off my rain poncho and sweatshirt. At mile 9 it started to rain again but didn't last long. My fingers were numb the entire race and several hours after. Since, I had forgot my watch, I knew I wouldn't get a PR so I then changed my goal to run it in under 2 hours. When I crossed the finish line, I saw the clock and knew I had run it in under 2 hours. It wasn't until I got inside to collect my medal, shirt and checked bag that I checked my actual time. I had to check three times because I didn't believe it. My official time was 1:54:41. Not only did I run it under 2 hours but I also PR'd by 4 minutes.

New Years Eve

For the second year in a row, we went to my friend Lindsay's NYE party. It's a great party because the kids come with us and we stay the night so we don't have to worry about driving home late. The kids have a blast as does the grown ups. Win-win.

Christmas part 2

We drove to San Antonio on the 26th to spend a couple of days with Justin's family. Kate and Brody love playing with their cousins. Kate and Brody ended up getting more toys and clothes and having a great time.
