Kate and I also went to North Carolina for my nieces 2nd birthday. We took Kate to her first Hibachi grill and she loved using the chopsticks.

Febuary 2014
A lot happened this month. Brody was running at recess and fell and broke his collarbone. Poor thing, he would scream every time I tried to carry him. At first I thought he didn't break anything. We came home and I tried taking his shirt off and was yelling and crying so badly I decided to take him to the ER. 41/2 hours later it was confirmed a broken collarbone. He was in a sling for a good 5 weeks. He handled it like a trooper.

January 2014
January, I got the decorating bug and wanted to change things up. Justin and I added purple chevron strips to one of Kate's bedroom walls. It of course took longer than we thought it would but it turned out great. Another project was to paint stripes on a hallway wall and then make it into a photo gallery. That also turned out great. Not sure why it tool me 4 years to do it.
Several friends and I ran the Houston 1/2 marathon.
Justin and I went to a Spurs/Rockets game.

December 2013
We took the kids ice skating for the first time. Kate did really good and loved it. We had to push Brody along between us the entire time.
Kate had a piano recital. She is getting so good. She played Rudolph.
Christmas time we always stay home. We like waking up in our own house and the kids getting to play with their presents all day instead of having to pack up and go somewhere. For New Years Eve, we stayed out at the ranch for several days.

Brody turned 4 on November 7th. I still can't believe how big he is getting. He birthday theme was Ninja Turtles. I made Oreo cupcakes and cookies for his birthday. He got a Spiderman bike for his birthday as well as a Hulk costume. My boy loves his action figures.
I also watched my niece for a week. Kate and Brody loved having Olivia stay with us.

October 2013
October was a fun filled month. A lot happened during that month.
Kate turned 7! She had a My Little Pony party, I made the cake and cookies. We had the party at Westwood Gymnastics where Kate takes gymnastics. We also made it a joint birthday party for Kate and Brody.
Justin and I also got them a puppy for their birthdays. Kate loved it, Brody on the other hand wanted a different present.
Halloween they dressed up as Superhero's. Kate was Batgirl and Brody was Superman. We walked the neighborhood with our good friends and neighbors.

August 2013
At the beginning of August I took the kids to Galveston for the day with some of my friends and their kids. The kids loved playing the water and sand. I on the other hand am not a fan of the sand. It just ends up everywhere!
Kate also went to a Sweet and Sassy party for the first time and loved the hair and makeup part.
Justin and I dropped the kids off with my dad for a weekend and went to Austin. We went paddle boarding, ate out and just enjoyed the weekend.
Kate started 1st grade and we loved her teacher Mrs. Heinold.

A year and a half later
So, I apparently took a really long break from blogging. Like really long. Not sure why because I love documenting the kids achievements, recitals, birthdays and daily happenings. Pretty sure there is no way I could possibly catch up over the last year and a half but will try to write the important things that happened.
July 2013
We took the kids to Great Wolf Lodge. Kate loved it and still talks about wanting to go back. She loved going down all the water slides and thought it was funny every time I would yell. Brody enjoyed it as well but was too small to go on the slides. What wasn't fun was every night Brody ended up throwing up. We still aren't sure why as he was fine during the day but once it was bedtime he was sick. We had to get to the carpet in the room cleaned one day and he was down to wearing only underwear at night because his pj's were thrown in the trash.
I also surprised Kate with a trip to New York City. It is by far my favorite place and I wanted her to experience it as well. It was the best weekend ever. We went with my friend Lindsay and her daughter. The girls were troopers when it came to walking and the subway. We took them to see Cinderella, FAO Swartz, Serendipity, American Girl Doll and the Statue of Liberty. Not too mention shopping for the adults. It was a trip we both will never forget and I can't wait to take her when she is older.
The day after we got back from NY, I took Kate to see one of my favorite plays, Wicked. She was in awe of it. July, was a fun month!
